Hey Hey – In today’s post I’d like to do a review of what are, in my opinion, the Top 3 Best Jailbreak Software Sites on the internet. All of these applications will jailbreak your phone or device pretty much automatically. You just install it. If you’re going to unlock your phone, don’t try to be a hacker and to it on your own. Grab one of these apps and get the job done in 5 minutes flat. So in descending order of quality, here are my picks…

1) Jailbreak Unlock

You have to see this app to believe it. I’ve personally used it on about 30 phones and iPads for my friends and family. After you download and install the app, the unlock takes about 6 and a half minutes from start to finish. You just hit the “start” button and then go grab a soda while it does it’s thing.

This app also does a complete iPhone jailbreak. Some of the others that I’ve used do not. Just to define it, a complete jailbreak means that you can use your Apple device on carriers other than ATT. An incomplete iPhone jailbreak just lets you install 3rd party apps, but doesn’t unlock the SIM at all. They will take Paypal if you want – it lets you know that they’re verified and trustworthy and that you can get a refund easily if you don’t like the product for some reason. Their customer support, tech support, and the included instructions get a grade A. The price was also reasonable. These guys are the creme de la creme. Overall, 9/10 rating. You Should Click Here to check them out now.

2)Automatic iPhone Unlocker

Another one that I’ve used in the past. Good app overall. The entire unlock process (after the download) took around 11 minutes, which wasn’t terrible. They also take Paypal. My biggest complaint was that they only offer a partial unlock. This is fine if you are unlocking a non Apple device, or if you’re happy using your Apple device on ATT. The price is a touch lower as a result, so if you just want to unlock your phone and don’t necessarily care about using it on another carrier, or if you’re using a non-Apple phone, they’re a great choice. Like my #1 choice, the instructions were very easy to follow. Overall Rating: 7/10. You Should Click Here to check them out now.

3)iJailbreak Tool

This product is acceptable, but I wasn’t hugely impressed with it. They do do a full jailbreak, and they’re completely above board, unlike some companies out there. That’s about all that I can say for them, though. They say that their app will let you unlock a phone in less than 5 minutes. But it took me 30 minutes and 2 calls to tech support to get it done – mainly because their instructions sucked. They were a tad more expensive than numbers 1 and 2 as well – they had a couple of upgrade/upsells also that they try to foist on you. Customer service was acceptable. There was a phone number instead of just an email address, but it was in India and the guy’s accent was a little tough to understand. Overall rating 5/10.

That’s all I’ve got time for today. Thanks again for checking out the blog. See you next time.

There are undoubtedly a number of iPhone owners who do not have a clear idea what it means to jailbreak an iPhone. This is clearly displayed in many forums where jailbreak and unlock are terms that are commonly interchanged.

If these simple terms are not used properly, imagine how dangerous it can be to jailbreak iPhone without the help of a premium paid solution. Although there are a number of tutorials and guides in the Internet that deals with the subject of jailbreaking an iPhone, these cater more to the exceptions of the population, rather than the rule.

Essentially, jailbreaking or iOS jailbreaking, describes a process where the limitations of the mobile device as defined by the manufacturer (in this case Apple) through the operating system are removed. This is in contrast to the process of unlocking where the iPhone can be used with other telecommunication carriers.

When you jailbreak an iPhone, the owners can gain access to the root of the operating system, allowing for the downloading of additional extensions, themes, and applications that are not generally available from the official App Store. Functions are extended and none of the original features are removed.

Jailbreaking an iPhone: Is it Illegal?

There was a time when the issue was not very clear and numerous opinions have been raised including that of Apple which claimed that when you jailbreak an iPhone, “it can void the warranty”. Owners of iPhone should be aware of the use of the word “can,” which means that jailbreaking will not automatically result in the voiding of the warranty. Actually, just recently, the cloud of confusion as to the legality of jailbreaking has been lifted.

Federal regulators have concluded that it is completely legal to jailbreak an iPhone within the territories of the United States. In fact, under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, jailbreaking can be applied to any Apple devices. The decision to declare the practice to jailbreak an iPhone as legal was based on the findings that there is no provision in the copyright law to allow Apple to continue with its restrictive business model.

This means that as an iPhone owner, running applications that are not authorized by Apple should not be grounds for the termination of warranty. To the detriment of the claims of Apple, it has never lifted a finger to prosecute any of the 10 million owners of the iPhone who had their smart phone units jailbroken.

Moreover, it has never taken action against Cydia, which is a known underground app store. However, it is extremely important to remember that even if it is legal to jailbreak iPhone, Apple can still implement technological barriers like firmware updates to ensure that the mobile device is restored to its factory settings.

Jailbreaking an iPhone: Are there Dangers?

To some of the owners of the iPhone who are not very much aware about the process of jailbreaking an iPhone, the most common concern is the dangers involved. Essentially, when you jailbreak an iPhone the most imminent danger only happens when the owner attempts to do the jailbreaking process by himself. This means that if the iPhone owner subscribes to a paid service provided by professionals, this danger in jailbreaking is easily avoided.

Another important thing to understand when you jailbreak an iPhone is that the entire process is fairly straightforward and harmless. This is especially true when you bring the iPhone to a premium paid solution. The most common danger though is in choosing the applications to install once the iPhone has been jailbroken.

This is another reason why it is important to consider professionals to do the jailbreaking because they can easily identify apps that are potentially harmful to your iPhone.

Jailbreak iPhone: Why DIY is a Bad Idea

As previously stated, jailbreaking the iPhone on your own is the most dangerous path you can take to as you may expose the mobile device to various types of risks. No matter how easy the Internet tutorials may seem, there is no substitute in allowing a technical professional to jailbreak the iPhone for you. In the same manner that there are a number of tutorials online, there are equally the same numbers of iPhone owners who regret doing the jailbreaking by themselves.

What many iPhone owners do not realize is that due to the decision to legalize jailbreaking, Apple is putting in place a number of technologically-advanced solutions to circumvent the practice of jailbreaking an iPhone. This means that when an iPhone owner attempts to jailbreak and does not have the technical expertise to do so, a number of potential consequences can happen which may be hard to solve or deal with.

In order to simplify matters, the best choice is to use a premium paid solution to make sure that it is done the right way.

Jailbreak iPhone: Myths and Facts

The number of myths that are being circulated by iPhone owners is a testament to the fact that many do not understand the entire jailbreaking process. If this is the case, then you can just imagine just how dangerous it would be for them to jailbreak an iPhone on their own. Some of the misconceptions include:

1. iPhone jailbreaking will brick the device.
This is one of the largest myths when it comes to jailbreaking an iPhone. Owners are afraid of bricking a very expensive smart phone device. Basically, to brick refers to the condition of freezing up the device, making it non-functional.

Fact: This was common only during firmware 1.1.1 when the iPhone was a relatively new device. This has already been resolved by many professional jailbreakers. This is also a very compelling reason why owners should only allow a premium paid solution to jailbreak their iPhones.

2. The practice is illegal.
As earlier discussed and proven this is without a doubt a myth, at least in the United States.

Fact: The United States government has already confirmed that it is 100% legal to jailbreak an iPhone. This is at least within the territory of the United States, which means that other countries may have a different interpretation on the legality of jailbreaking.

3. No turning back from jailbreaking.
Some iPhone owners believe that once they jailbreak their iPhone, it will be that way forever.

Fact: Many of the premium paid solution providers can easily reset your iPhone back to its factory settings. This is the beauty of allowing professionals to jailbreak your iPhone, they can revert it the original factory condition without any hassles.

4. Jailbreaking is expensive and takes time.
One of the reasons as to why many iPhone owners opt to jailbreak an iPhone themselves is because they believe the entire process is not only costly but time consuming as well.

Fact: The reality is that any professional premium paid solution provider can jailbreak iPhone in just about two minutes. Without a doubt, bricking an iPhone is more expensive than having a professional jailbreak your iPhone.

Top 3 Jailbroken iPhone Apps

One of the reasons to jailbreak an iPhone is to allow third party apps to be installed you’re your smart phone mobile device. Some of the apps that you may want to consider include:

1. Winterboard
Majority of owners of jailbroken iPhones install this app in their mobile device. The reason is that it allows for extensive customization and personalization of the iPhone including installation of virtually limitless number of themes, images, and sounds among others.

2. Folder enhancer
The folders and categories in the iPhone are great additions, but are extremely limited in terms of functionality. The beauty when you jailbreak an iPhone is that you can install apps to improve the organization and functionality of the iPhone allowing for less clutter. It also effectively removes the folder limit imposed by the operating system.

3. Music controls
One of the most common problems of iPhone owners is that majority of the music apps do not integrate into the mobile device. This means that when an email or SMS comes in while playing music, the app has to be closed before any other action can be performed. If you jailbreak you iPhone, this limitation is overcome by allowing the shifting from one running app to another.

In general when you jailbreak an iPhone, the normal and basic functions of your phone is not, in any way, affected. With all these benefits and clarifications, the key for every owner is to ensure that when they do decide to jailbreak their iPhone, only a professional must the job to ensure safe and secure jailbreaking process.

Ok, so you’ve downloaded your Jailbreak Software and unlocked your phone. (If you haven’t yet for some reason, what are you waiting for? Go check out this site and get it unlocked now. It’ll only take a few minutes.) So what’s next? How do you download all of those bitchin’ unauthorized apps that you keep hearing about? Simple. Go to Cydia.

There are a few other spots where you can get them, but Cydia is a one-stop shop. It’s like an “App Store” for hacked phones. (But don’t worry – you can still use the regualar App store too)

So let’s talk about how you use Cydia, shall we?

How to use Cydia:

The First step is to select your filter type.

User (GUI)

Hacker (CLI)

Developer (No filter)

Pick “User”. You’ll save yourself a lot of headaches that way. It will walk you through some package upgrades to make sure that your phone or device has the current Cydia release. Say “Yes” and let it do it’s thing.

You’re now in Cydia. Congratulations! These options will now show up:

Home – It is what it sounds like. It will show you Cydia news as well as featured apps, a user guide and similar info.

Section – This is your main destination. Here you’ll find all of the available apps in sortable list form. You will also find apps listed by category.Changes – Talks about recently released apps and alerts you if there are any upgrades.

Manage – Again, just what is sounds like. Go here to manage apps that you’ve already downloaded or installed. You can upgrade, uninstall, or modify apps.

Search – Another place to find apps – there will be a familiar search box to look for them

Application Package Installation:

How to Install Cydia Apps:

If you’ve ever installed a program on a PC or in the regular Apps store, you can handle this.

Locate the App that you want to install

Hit the “Install” button on the screen, then hit “Confirm”

Cydia then does the rest, uploading the app to your device and automatically installing it.

Like I said, pretty straightforward.

How to Modify a previously installed Cydia application:

As I said above, you’ll find all of your installed apps under “Manage” in Cydia. To do an upgrade or uninstall:

Hit where it says “Manage” and then Hit “Packages”.

Highlight the package that you want to modify

Hit the “Modify” button on the screen. Then, hit “Remove” if you want to uninstall. If an upgrade has been released, the “Upgrade” button will be next to the “Remove” button. You can just hit “Upgrade” and it will do so automatically.

Best Cydia Packages for 2010:

Ok, so now I’m going to review some of my favorite Cydia Apps out this year. These are reason enough to grab some jailbreak software and unlock that phone!

1) Installous

This is actually an application that lets you find pirated, and often free, applications. An app to find free apps. Does it get any better?

2)Cycorder

For enhanced video recording. 3GS phones already have something similar built in. If you’ve got a different model though, you should grab this baby asap.

3)Wi-Fi Sync

Wi-Fi Synch lets you sync wirelessly between your phone and your PC. It’s pretty sweet. You download it, make sure that the PC and the phone are on the same network, and start synching. Works for files, vids, music, and just about any data that you might have.

4) Cylay 3.0

Like an enhance, unauthorized version of MobileMe. Ensures that no one else can use your phone, and that you know where it is at all times.

5)SwirlyMMS2

Unlimited text messaging regardless of the plan you’re on.

6)SBSettings

Overlays a menu on your screen with basic system options. Way more functional and feature rich than the default.

7)MCleaner

No, not McLovin’. MCleaner. It let’s you blacklist or whitelist callers by number of type of number, and choose how you deal with them. Great for screening bill collectors and exes!

 3G Unrestrictor

Is what it sounds like. Probably my favorite app on the list. Allows you to access the 3G network for functions that your carrier normally blocks. For example: You can make Skype calls from your car on the expressway, watch Slingbox vids while you’re in your dentists waiting room stealing his wi-fi, and more. Also – lifts your download limits for the normal app store.

And best of all…

Start downloading unlimited ringtones, themes, videos and music!

If you’re still looking for jailbreak software that is quick and easy to use without having to get bogged down in the technology, I highly recommend that you check out Jailbreak Unlock.

That’s it for me for today – Take care,

Tristan

The temptation is a whole world of apps that are available from Cydia – an alternative app store to Apple’s one.

Apps on the cydia store are called tweaks – the equivalent of apps, or themes – which change the way your phone looks and feels.

A lot of the lists for cydia apps are old and crusty, so here are some new and awesome ones. Bear in mind, even though some of these some small, they can save you time and give your iPhone a much better user experience.

1. SecretSMS – this sends a message to your friend that leads him to a webpage where he is asked for a password to read your sms. I don’t need to explain the need for this now do I? Extremely useful app.

2. EZDecline – using this tweak, the “Decline” button appears on your lock screen when you receive a call – rather than “slide to answer”. This can be useful if you want to reject a phone call in the middle of a meeting!

3. Multifl0w – this great little tweak offers a graphical interpreatation to task switching – pretty thumbnails of the last screen of using the app, instead of just having the app icons at the bottom of the screen. 10 point griffindor. Me like. Only shows up to 9 apps.

4. Home page – FINALLY, you can set a home page for your safari browser like you would be able to on any desktop browser. Just tap the “+” button and “add to home screen”. This is one of those instances where apple should totally pay attention to what’s going on in the cydia store and fix their native software appropriately.

5. SnapTap – I don’t know about you but I never liked the fact I have to click the touch screen when I take a photo. With SnapTap, you can use the volume button. It just feels more “right” to use a hardware button sometimes, you know?

6. Mark read – this little tweak allows you to mass mark a lot of emails as read. This works well if your inbox is getting too full and you don’t want the hassle of going into every message one by one to reduce the amount of unread messages. Sounds

7. Infinifolders – With this app you can have more than the maximum allowed 12 apps per folder. The new limit is infinity, as the name suggests. Scrolling and pagination is available in the new folders.

8. NoLockScreen – this completely disables the lock screen. Just tap the home button and you continue where you left off before your phone went to sleep. Cool. If you have a password you’ll have to enter it, of course.

I might go back and add a few more Cydia apps, but these are the major ones that I use these days.

These days, Apple just moves a hell of a lot slower than jailbreak software app developers… I recommend you check out my 3 best jailbreak software review if you haven’t yet – your iPhone would be grateful

He said “I’ve heard that all of the best jailbreak software websites are scams”. He said that he had heard, on forums, that most sites offering this type of software would just take your money and that if they actually gave you any software, that it wouldn’t work.

I wanted to address that issue today.

How To Not Get Scammed When Buying Jailbreaking Software

In writing for this blog, I’ve looked at a lot of websites that sell software to help you unlock your iPhone. I haven’t come across a single one that was an out and out scam.

Look at it this way: If you were to jailbreak your iPhone by yourself, without using any software, you would need to be a tech wizard. Jailbreaking an iPhone manually requires going through millions of lines of code. Usually, teams of developers work for months on developing a crack for each iOS that comes out. Even if you had instructions, you’re looking at a week’s worth of work. Millions of people have jailbroken their iPhones now. Do you really think that they all had the technical know-how (and the ambition) to spend hours upon hours upon hours poring over lines of code, deep within their phones iOS, to crack their phones? Are they all hacking wizards?

Or are they paying for jailbreak software and unlocking their phones automatically?

And if they’re doing it automatically, then where do you think they’re getting the software? Does it just magically appear on their computer? Or are they purchasing it from a website? If all websites offering software to jailbreak your phone were scams, then no one would have a jailbroken phone except for a handful of elite geeks.

Ok – Second point: Every single website offering software for jailbreaking (including the 3 that I profile here) accepts Paypal. Paypal exists to protect you from scams. If you pay for something online with Paypal, and the merchant steals your money or gives you merchandise or software that doesn’t meet you expectations, then you can get a refund through Paypal with two clicks – no questions asked. If these websites were scamming people, then everyone whom they scammed would be getting refunds, and the sites would not make any money. So, as you can see, they have no reason to scam you.

Does that make sense? Do you understand now why 99.9% of all iPhone jailbreak sites are legitimate and are not scams?

We knew that it would happen sooner or later. Hackers have finally found a way to use the best jailbreak software to crack the Windows Phone 7. This means that you can now bypass the Windows Marketplace and “sideload” apps.

Now, for iPhones, there are no free jailbreak utilities. However, with the Windows hack, the guys that broke it decided to release the jailbreak software into the public domain. You can find it here.

It’s being called ChevronWP7, and it completely breaks the phone free from Microsoft’s control, and lets you install 3rd party apps that have not been authorized by Microsoft. Like most of the best jailbreak software, all that is required is a PC or Mac and a USB cable.

Controversy

The guys at ChevronWP7 are saying that the tool is only meant for sideloading experimental apps. Obviously, though, the app will be used extensively for app piracy, the same as what’s happened with the iPhone.

Microsoft is pretty upset though, since their Windows Marketplace is nowhere near the size of Apple’s App Store. Microsoft might not make a huge amount of money from apps sales in comparison to the rest of their income stream, but if developers fear that piracy is rampant, it could discourage programmers from developing for the OS.

A senior vice president at Microsoft issue this statement: “Attempting to unlock a device could void the warranty, disable phone functionality, interrupt access to Windows Phone 7 services or render the phone permanently unusable.”

We know that this is not entirely true, as ChevronWp7 allows you to un-jailbreak your phone.

Using jailbreak software to hack phone was made legal in the US earlier in 2010. One problem is that it can “brick” your phone, although with most jailbreak applications, this is easily remedied. Microsoft is taking a harder line, and is reportedly developing the ability to shutdown any phone remotely, so jailbreak with care.

Or do what I did, and just buy an iPhone.

Hey guys – some late breaking news about the new iOS that was released this morning. Apparently, when you update to iOS 4.2.1, your iPhone music does a disappearing act.

If this happens to you, though, don’t stress too much, because there is a pretty easy fix available. Also – in related news, alert hackers have already released jailbreak software for the new update. (Remember that this is legal under the latest ruling).

Easy fix for disappearing music on iPhone with iOS 4.2.1. upgrade

When iOS 4.2.1 was released on Monday (11/23), users almost immediately started having issues with music appearing to be erased from their iPhones. In a thread on Apple.com, however, in the discussion forums, it was discovered later in the day that the music was not actually being erased, but rather just being hidden.

A user on the forum who goes by the moniker “slouchsock8” posted the following fix:

Connect your iPhone to iTunes via USB cord

Play a song through iTunes, but on the iPhone itself

Re-sync the phone

On the phone, open up the iPod application and rebuild the library

The update that was published this morning was released as 4.2, but technically is 4.2.1. The actual 4.2 was a beta that was released only to programmers and developers earlier in the month. However, Wi-Fi problems forced Apple Corporation to take the iOS into .1 status before they pushed it into wide release.

“Tethered jailbreak” for iOS 4.2 released early in the day, with related Jailbreak Software this afternoon

The greyhat dev community released a software jailbreak for today’s iOS nearly as soon as the update came out. (Jailbreaking refers to hacking the iOS, usually with the assistance of jailbreak software, so that end users can run code and applications that has not been approved by Apple.)

A group of hackers that has become very well known in certain circles (the iPhone Dev-Team) had an update to their unlock procedure out by 4pm today. They’re calling it “redsn0w” (better than yellow snow I guess), version 0.9.6b4. There are version out for Windows, as well as several flavours of Mac OS.

For the time being, the jailbreak is “tethered”, which may disappoint some advanced users. This applies to users with newer devices including newer 3GS models, any flavour of iPhone 4, the newest iPod touches, and all iPads. This means that in order to jailbreak these devices, the user will need to hook their unit up to a computer (Windows or Mac) via USB cable and re-do the jailbreak every time they restart their device. (So if this is you – do yourself a favor and keep your device charged!)

If you have the iPhone 3G, older 3GS models, or older gen iPods touches, then you will be able to do an untethered jailbreak.

Apple Corp. and the grey and black hat dev communities have been playing this “cat and mouse” game for the last several years. As soon as Apple plugs a security hole in the software, the hacking community finds a way to exploit a different one. Jailbreaking, through the widespread use of jailbreak software, has allowed owners of Apple devices to do things with them that Apple does not allow. For example, creating custom skins and themes, having multiple apps running at once, Wi-Fi tethering, and FaceTime.

The Apple company’s biggest concern seems to be that jailbreaking allows people to download software for free from the App store. They also complain that jailbreaking may leave the device open to hackers who want to steal personal information.

At this blog, though, I always say that the benefits outweight the drawbacks, and I recommend jailbreaking to any owner of an iPhone or other Apple device. Just keep in mind that although jailbreaking is now legal, digital piracy is not, so use your heads, ok?

After a day’s work, some people would want to take it easy and unwind. Everybody has their own way of soothing and unwinding and to some, simply picking up their phone to play a a digital game is relaxing already. And what could be more enjoyable than playing an awesome computer game on your iPhone and not having to to pay anything for it. Indeed, as much as Apple wants you to shell out your dollars in app stores and iTunes, there are some developers who have created some games that are for free but have been able to make inventive and absolutely a boredom killers. So if you just like playing games but dislike to spend on a mobile phone video gaming, here are some of the awesome free games on the apple iphone that we have came across. Volkswagen’s real racing GTI – this game while for free does have an ulterior objective. It lets users try out the latest models of Volkswagen even if it is inside the digital world. If you want to play the total version of the game, you are required to pay for if however, if you fancy merely simple racing game then the free variation is just great. A Quest of Knights Onrush – the free variation in fact seems to be like of the initial game that one has to purchase to play the full version. But some video game developers designed it to answer the need from iphone users who just want almost everything at no cost. Spider: Hornet Smash – is a Lite version from the complete version of the video game called Spider which is not free but continues to be competent to amass a couple of purchases from the people who like how the video style game flows. There are tons of video games for the iphone, just be picky and chose the one you desire. Many of our buyers who have iphone insurance have asked us if we cover their Apple iphones from loss and the answer is no, if you simply just lost your iPhone it’s not covered. Comprehensive iphone insurance covers only theft and damages and will guarantee a replacement in the event the conditions and terms apply. They question this because a lot of them play a lot game titles in their iPhone these people actually got iphone insurance to cover it. As far as I’m concerned, these types of game titles are cool enough and would likely captivate me already but I sure wish that you really do not over do it to the point of becoming robbed due to playing your iphone too much in public places.

In recent years we have seen the technology market swamped with devices that can do all types of amazing things. A few years ago the Blackberry was a big fish in a small pond, but some claim that this might no longer be the case. But there are many fans of the Blackberry who still feel that there really is no other device which can compare and feel there are some great reasons for sticking with this brand. The following are just examples of some of these reasons.

- Security is a major aspect of the Blackberry and one of the main reasons why people choose to go for them. You can be sure that unless you want others to read your data, they won’t be able to because the Blackberry uses 3DES encryption. In these days when we are all worried about things like data theft; this is very reassuring.

- The internet service on the Blackberry is very fast and effective. Lots of people like the fact that they get this fast web access because more of us are using our phones to surf the web these days.

- Pearl 3g
keeps on innovating with their products and with each new device they seem to push the edges of technology. That is why we constantly hear a real buzz whenever they are about to release a new product.

- You don’t need to connect up directly with your computer when you have a Blackberry; wireless synchronization is an advantage that it has over many other devices. This makes everything a lot more convenient. It really is great not having to root around for a wire in order to get your phone connected to your computer.

As you can see there are still some great reasons why you might want to purchase a Blackberry. The list of good reasons grows every time that Blackberry release a new model.

Here’s a little gossip tidbit for you regarding Apple: Consumer Reports has issued what they call a non-recommendation for the iPhone 4. Apparently, the “bumper giveaway” policy is not user friendly for consumers and does not fix the root issues. When the iPhone 4 launched, there were issues with the antennae from the get-go. People who bought the phone complained that the signal would go in and out for no apparent reason. It turned out that the issue arose whenever bare skin came into contact with the exterior rim of the antenna. Addendum: Consumer Reports DOES support using jailbreak software to unlock iPhones as they consider it to provide a better value for the consumer. Particularly, they recommend that you should jailbreak 3G iPhones to get the most bang for your buck.

Apple, as well as consumer reports, have carried out tests, and determined that when a hand or finger touches a certain place on the left hand side of the iPhone, the signal can weaken considerably and you can sometimes lose your signal completely. It is for this reason that consumer reports has give the “non-recommendation” to the iPhone.

Apple created what they called a “bumper” after receiving numerous complaints. The bumper was supposed to be a guard so that skin would not contact the antenna. However, they have now discontinued the free bumper giveaway and will begin charging for them on September 30th. This was a further reason that Consumer Reports is not backing the iPhone 4.

The Apple company is trying to dig their way out the hole that this has put them into, and hopefully they will keep on trying to solve the problem. Clearly, though, this was an unforeseen design flaw. Sales of the phones do not seem to have dipped though, and apparently the new iPhone is outselling all previous versions. Even when you consider the flaw, the increased functionality that you get when you use jailbreak software to unlock the phone kind of makes up for any hiccups in the hardware.
